Date: Thursday, 2 December 2004 In a joint statement today, Garry Baker, CEO of Melbourne based environmental technology provider Ozmotech Pty Ltd, and Michael Murray, Chairman of British renewable energy company Cynar plc, announced an agreement for Cynarto purchase seven ThermoFuel systems over the next five years. ThermoFuel converts co-mingled waste plastics from a wide variety of sources, including contaminated domestic waste, into a clean burning diesel fuel suitable for use in any standard diesel engine. The fuels comply with all international standards and regulatory requirements. Mr Baker said “This is a great export earner for Australia. This contract is valued at A$35 million and the plants will be built entirely in Australia and shipped to the UK for installation in various British and Irish locations. The first plant is due to be commissioned late next year.” This brings to fifteen the number of ThermoFuel systems currently under contract worldwide. The plants for the UK are the newly designed continuous feed system with 20 tonne of plastics waste throughput per day. Cynar have secured the waste plastic feedstocks from a variety of sources inciuding contaminated domestic, agricultural and post-industrial, with each system capable of diverting over 6,800 tonnes of plastics away from landfill each year. Each plant is expected to produce 6 million litres of fuel each year, which will be sold direct into the retail market. Ozmotech has completed intense R&D and design developments which have raised the daily throughput from the original 3.5 tonnes of plastics per day to 20 tonnes, with a potential yield of up to 19,000 litres of diesel fuel daily. ThermoFuel also comes in a 10 tpd configuration. The agreement with Ozmotech also provides Cynar with exclusivity for installations of ThermoFuel systems in the UK and Ireland to Build Own and Operate, or to enter Joint Venture opportunities.
