Melbourne based environmental technology company Ozmotech has announced the sale of seven ThermoFuel “waste plastic to Diesel Fuel systems” to Spain.

The Thermofuel technology system converts unwashed and unsorted plastics from a wide variety of sources, including the domestic waste stream, into a clean burning, low sulphur diesel fuel suitable for use in any standard diesel engine.

Ozmotech has completed the intense R&D required for compliance with Australian Fuel Standards, and OH & S requirements, and design developments have raised the potential daily throughput from the original 3.5 tonnes of plastics per day to a potential 11.25 tonnes per day, realising a yield of up to 11,000 litres of diesel fuel daily.

Ozmotech CEO Garry Baker said today “The contract is worth more than $20 million to Ozmotech over the next 4 years, with the major componentry being manufactured in Melbourne, and some minor manufacture and stainless steel fabrication being contracted to local suppliers in Spain.”

The client is a private Spanish company who have procured the feedstock plastics under long term contract, and will sell the fuel into the commercial market.

As the first major international contract for ThermoFuel outside Japan, Mr Baker said that this sale into Spain will open the full European market for the Thermofuel technology with very strong interest already received from UK and France.
